I'm currently working on a system integration project and trying to better understand the role of system integration testing. From what I know, it helps ensure different systems and components work together correctly after integration.

However, I'm curious about how critical this phase really is and what risks might occur if it's not done properly.

How important is system integration testing in real projects, and what best practices do you recommend?
